October 9, 2008 -- The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Information and Library Science, a partner in the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program, announced (external link) that it is now the home of the Data Intensive Cyber Environments group. The DICE group has long been closely associated with another NDIIPP partner, the University of California, San Diego, San Diego Supercomputer Center.

DICE group team leaders Reagan Moore, Richard Marciano and Arcot Rajasekar participated in a Library of Congress/National Science Foundation DIGARCH project, Digital Preservation Lifecycle Management: Building a Demonstration Prototype for the Preservation of Large Scale Multimedia Collections. DICE will collaborate with the UNC VidArch (external link) project.
