October 15, 2009 -- Two groups of archivists received briefings about the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program and related activities at the Library of Congress during the week of October 5, 2009.
A group of 10 municipal archivists from Denmark heard about the Library’s digital content system architecture and preservation tools, as well as web archiving and digital reformatting programs. The visitors posed a number of questions to Library staff and said they obtained useful practical information that will help their own efforts.
Fifteen archival trainees from the National Archives and Records Administration also visited to hear about NDIIPP, web archiving, cloud computing and the use of social media. The group consisted of staff from the Washington, DC, area as well from NARA facilities nationwide.
