November 10, 2009 -- The 9th International Web Archiving Workshop (external link), held September 30-October 1, 2009, in conjunction with ECDL2009 (external link), highlighted work in preserving virtual worlds, exploring the temporal dimension of web archives and other groundbreaking explorations.
The workshop proceedings (external link) (PDF), which include seven new research papers focused on web archiving, are now available. Martha Anderson, director of program management for the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program, served on the program committee along with NDIIPP partners Michael Nelson and John Kunze.
The IWAW brings together librarians, archivists and researchers concerned with the acquisition, maintenance and preservation of digital objects for long-term access. The workshop also acts as a forum for researchers and practitioners to discuss best practices and improved solutions for data acquisition, ingest and accessibility maintenance.
IWAW10 is planned to take place in conjunction with IPRES 2010 (external link) in Vienna, Austria.
