November 13, 2009 -- The Model Technological and Social Architecture for the Preservation of State Government Digital Information Project has added three state partners.
The current partners from libraries, archives and historical societies in Minnesota, California, Kansas, Illinois, Mississippi, Tennessee and Vermont will be joined by partners from the Arkansas State Library, the Nebraska State Historical Society and the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
The project is working with legislatures in the partner states to explore enhanced access to legislative digital records. This involves implementing a trustworthy information management system and testing the capacity of different states to adopt the system for their own use. Content being addressed includes bills, committee reports, floor proceedings and other legislative materials.
The new partners will expand perspectives on developing best practices for the project, and will engage a new set of state archivists and legislative information technology professionals on the subject of preserving and providing long-term access to digital legislative information.
