About Us
The Library of Congress Office of National and International Outreach and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) established the groundbreaking NDSR program that continues to provide a robust, hands-on learning experience to complement graduate-level training and education.
Pioneering programs such as American Memory, Teaching with Primary Sources, the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP), and the Digital Preservation Outreach and Education Program (DPOE), the Library of Congress is positioned as an international leader in digital stewardship. Founded in 1800, the Library is the nation’s oldest federal cultural institution. It seeks to spark imagination and creativity and to further human understanding and wisdom by providing access to knowledge through its magnificent collections, programs and exhibitions.
The Institute of Museum and Library Services, the chief source of Federal support for the nation's libraries and museums, has funded numerous initiatives in digital stewardship. Among those include various research projects, scholarship programs, continuing education opportunities, and a wide-range of practical field experiences.
It is the hope of the Library of Congress and the Institute of Museum and Library Services that the NDSR program will serve the American people by developing the next generation of stewards to collect, manage, preserve, and make accessible our digital assets.
