October 29, 2010 -- The North Carolina Geospatial Data Archiving Project, one of the original National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program projects, has released its final report (PDF, 253KB).
The project, a collaboration between the North Carolina State University Libraries (external link) and the North Carolina Center for Geographic Information and Analysis (external link), has worked to inform development of a national digital preservation infrastructure through a "learning by doing" approach focused on identifying, acquiring and preserving digital geospatial content within the context of the NC OneMap initiative (external link) and its framework of partnerships with state, local, and federal agencies.
While the three-year project was focused solely on the state of North Carolina, its findings serve as a demonstration project for geospatial data archiving developments elsewhere.
The NCGDAP partners are continuing to work with NDIIPP through the GeoMAPP project.
